Frequently asked questions

What if I lose the device?

The vault is encrypted and unusable without your fingerprint. You restore onto a new device from your encrypted backup, unlocked by the supplied 12-word recovery card plus your personal passphrase. Without both, nobody — including us — can read your data.

What is the passphrase, and what if I forget it?

The passphrase is a long password you choose and memorize at first setup. It completes the device-generated 12-word card: the card is what you have, the passphrase is what you know — both are required to restore a backup, so a stolen card alone is useless. The trade-off is deliberate: if you forget the passphrase, your backup becomes permanently unreadable — there is no bypass, with us or anyone else. Pick a long but memorable phrase (the device makes you confirm it during enrollment), and never store it in the same place as the card.

Is my fingerprint sent anywhere?

No. Matching happens inside the sensor module. The fingerprint never leaves the chip, and there is no server it could be sent to.

Does it need an app or a subscription?

No. The device acts as a keyboard and a FIDO2 key — it works on any computer or phone with no software. A free companion app exists only for comfort: offline import, backup, updates. You pay once; if we disappeared tomorrow, your device would keep working.

When does it ship?

PassPass is sold in pre-order: production starts when the pre-order window closes, and units ship only once produced and tested. Timelines shown are good-faith estimates, revised publicly. Reserving today is free and takes no payment.
